Judging by the video, the image stabilization on the Tamron AF Di II VC 18-270 (B008) Lens is nothing short of amazing! Pairing it with the 18 megapixel Canon EOS T3i — a comparable digital camera — you end up with a Full HD movie recording setup. From the author:

A new autumn means another trip to me cabin, and a new film! This year I hadn’t time to make a short, but I thought I would test a new cheap lens called Tamron AF Di II VC 18-270 PZD. It’s a nice all round lens, but how well will it work when filming handheld with a DSLR? The entire video is shot handheld, using only the Canon 550D/rebel t2i, and the Tamron AF Di II VC 18-270 PZD. I have added smoothcam in Final Cut in some shots, and colorgraded in Color. I have tried to vary the shots as much as possible to test the lens in different settings and angles. The shot of the girls walking along the road, is shot handheld from a car.

I hope you enjoy the test! 🙂

As you watch, keep in mind, this is handheld, without the aid of a Steadycam attachment.
