The “Official” Beers of Knoxville’s World’s Fair?

Umm… Okay, yes, we had the Strohaus, but …
And there I thought, back in 1982, the “official” beers would have been any of those nine colors of World’s Fair Beer, which was easily as bad as the swill Jimmy Carter’s brother made…
Ahh, but who the Hell am I to argue with this beautiful — and oh-so-tasteful — mirror-placque from back in the day…?

What can I say about Billy Beer except that it was one of those nasty memories best left forgotten? As for which beer was official, I believe the confusion came in where the Strohaus was completed a good six months before the World’s Fair and lasted for a while afterward. Two years was it? Can’t remember. But you made a nice find from the not-to-distant past. 🙂
As for the World’s Fair Beer, there was a 25th Anniversary Party in 07 and they were selling them to drink for $1 a can. It wasn’t worth it. Besides, I still have six colors in the garage. Not that I’m old just that the drinking age was 18 so it wasn’t a big deal to stop by the Aztex and pick up a few six packs. lol

I hate to break it to you, but if you bought beer at the Aztex, that puts you, at minimum, in the “I’m dead in the middle of a midlife crisis” age. While it may not be old, I’m pretty sure most of us feel it’s not “young” any more. 😉

I went to that party. I was too young for World’s Fair Beer when it came out but had some there. Not only is it a terrible taste it is nothing but canned hangover! I’d rather drink MD 20/20 or Boone’s Farm. At least they won’t be like furry cat piss on my tongue.

Mad Dog … Funny, someone brought that stuff up a few weeks ago. Hadn’t thought about it in years.
Yeah, it’s the Longbranch. You can’t upload photos here, but you could always link to them on Facebook or something.
