Video Game Logic: Running

As much as consoles have improved over the years, some Video Games still make no sense on a regular basis. Many times it’s like, “Oh, you can’t pick up that scrap of paper,” but you’re carrying 15 hunting rifles, 8 sniper rifles, 100 grenades, 20 assorted pistols and 30 submachine guns … in your pockets…

Online Gaming Tantrums

Can video games stress the nervous system enough to cause mood changes? Tantrums? Explosive behavior?

Let’s be honest. By age five, these kids usually have the mouths of sailors. A wise man once said that a normal person, plus anonymity, plus an audience, equals…F@#$%wad. The tendency for anonymous crowds to be abusive is well-known, and adding in the competitive nature of online multiplayer games doesn’t help things.

You may have experienced it yourself, that player in the chat who gets angry and aggressive; calling people names and filling the screen with lines of typed abuse. If you’re on voice-chat, it could be shouted insults filled with curses, or sneered commands from someone convinced they’re superior.

This environment can become overwhelming for some, and many decide to drop out and play something else. At first, you might be driven by your emotions and react the same way, but after you realize it’s just a game and it’s not actually worth it, you’ll start looking for different online games that will not have these kinds of upsetting interactions with other players.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity Dead Kings DLC Workaround

So you pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed: Unity. You poor bastard! Wasn’t it a pain in the butt to not be able to play and enjoy the game until at least December 16th, 2014? Who can afford to sit and wait for 40GB of download patch from a disc that only held 17GB to begin with?

They gave us a “free” downloadable content pack in Dead Kings to make up for the debacle, but when the DLC is just as buggy as the original game, who cares, right?

You probably won’t get 100%. I mean, at least, not as far as Xbox Live or PSN are concerned. The “Defender of Franciade” Achievement won’t pop (Trophies, if you’re on the PS4) for completing the “Suger’s Legacy” quest, even after you get the damn sword out of the wall. But, at least, with a little weirdness, you can actually equip the sword and use it … And it’s pretty damn cool!

First, go up to any merchant and go to Gear Loadout. Select a Rifle — any rifle, but not a Guillotine Gun. Next, to go Pistols, and select your favorite — even if it’s already equipped. Now, go One-Handed Weapons … and you’ll notice that kickass sword — The Eagle of Suger — is already selected, so just back out…

Ya know, the investment in this game has been a real dog. It’s sad that Ubisoft doesn’t have a support department that can tell you to do anything more than, “Start over,” or “Delete your install and re-install,” but that’s pretty much what’s going to happen until the Developers actually start seeing support metrics. And, from a corporate perspective, they probably won’t, the way things are structured.

But even if they did, they still might not be able to do basic math…

I’m not sure what’s worse — the video game logic or the player logic, which seems to dictate that anyone better than you is cheating, and anyone who is worse than you’s “mom was pretty good last night.”

As expected, nearly 1.5 million jobs were terminated today after the midnight release of Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Due to a complete lack of production, the Dow Industrial closed at nearly 60 points down today, despite the sharp upturn in retail spending. Economic Analysts are still skeptical, given the expected 1% rise in unemployment claims due for Wednesday, November 14th.
